Two Snohomish County residents have died from influenza, marking the first deaths of the 2024-2025 flu season, according to the county health department. This year’s fatalities bring a total of nine deaths attributed to the flu since last season, which claimed seven lives.
The health department warns that respiratory viruses can cause severe illnesses, particularly among young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems. To prevent such outcomes, the annual flu vaccine is strongly recommended for everyone aged six months and above. Vaccination can significantly reduce the number of missed workdays, milder symptoms, and hospitalizations.
