A record-breaking $112 million jackpot has been won by an Arizonan resident in the Mega Millions lottery game. The winning ticket was purchased through the Jackpocket app, which is available for download in Arizona.
The Arizona Lottery reported that 40% of Americans who bought lottery tickets over the past six months used a mobile app or website to purchase their tickets. This highlights the growing trend of online lottery purchases.
Jackpocket CEO Peter Sullivan explained how the app works: “We’re like Uber Eats, but for the lottery. You can play all state lottery drawings through our app.” The app allows users to receive digital copies of their tickets and alerts them if they’ve won.
The winning numbers in the Mega Millions game on January 17 were: 8, 10, 37, 54, 69, with the gold Mega Ball being 22.
