The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a four-year, $72 million contract with left-hander Tanner Scott, a deal that includes a $20 million signing bonus and deferred payments. The addition of Scott solidifies the team’s bullpen and brings the total luxury tax payroll estimate to around $375 million.
Scott, 30, has established himself as a dominant force in the major leagues over the past two years, posting a 2.04 ERA in 146 appearances with the Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres from 2023 to 2024. He joins a strong bullpen that includes Michael Kopech, Blake Treinen, Evan Phillips, Alex Vesia, and Ryan Brasier.
The Dodgers’ offseason moves have been notable, including the signing of Blake Snell, the return of Teoscar Hernandez, and the additions of Michael Conforto, Hyeseong Kim, and Roki Sasaki. The team’s payroll now exceeds that of the Philadelphia Phillies, with only the New York Yankees projected to have a higher competitive balance tax payroll over $300 million.
ESPN was first to report the agreement between Scott and the Dodgers, marking another significant move in what has been a busy offseason for the reigning World Series champions.
