Her son, Sanjoy Roy, was found guilty in the case and will face punishment. Despite being convicted, Malati believes that anyone who commits such a crime deserves to be held accountable.
Malati’s daughter has three daughters of her own, and she empathizes with the pain of the victim’s parents. She also expressed support for the ultimate punishment, even if it means death.
Roy’s sister, Sabita, described the incident as “unthinkable and horrific” and believes that Sanjoy should face the maximum punishment. The family has been affected by the case, with the mother not visiting her son during his custody, and the daughter stopping attending a local temple due to negative rumors.
The victim was also a doctor, like Sabita. Sanjoy Roy’s life has changed since his arrest, with his family struggling financially. Despite the challenges they face, Malati believes that she cannot be sure of her son’s guilt and thinks he may not have acted alone.
