Nintendo has officially announced its next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2, set to release in 2025. The new system boasts a larger design similar to its predecessor but features changes to its Joy-Con controllers, which now attach to the side of the main unit.
The Switch 2 will play both exclusive and back-compatible games from the original Switch, with some titles potentially experiencing compatibility issues. Details on the console’s specs or specific release date were scarce in the announcement. Instead, Nintendo hinted at further information during its April Nintendo Direct event and “Nintendo Switch 2 Experience” events in various cities worldwide.
Players can register for these hands-on experience events starting Friday, which will take place in locations such as Los Angeles, New York, London, and Paris beginning in April.
