Microsoft has released the KB5050085 update for the Beta channel, introducing several new features and improvements to various Windows applications. The update includes a range of enhancements to File Explorer, the Start menu, and widgets.
File Explorer’s interface now adapts to text scaling, displaying recommended cards and implementing AI-powered improvements. This change addresses a long-standing issue where dialog boxes failed to adjust font sizes according to system settings.
In addition, local and Microsoft Account users will now have access to a recommended cards section in the Home section of File Explorer, similar to the feature already available to Enterprise users.
The update also brings improvements to the Start menu’s new layout, including a category view for the All apps section. Users can now click on subcategory icons to expand and reveal app icons, addressing an issue where this functionality was previously unavailable.
Furthermore, the About Us page in settings has been revamped with top PC components displayed prominently. Widgets have also received improvements, with EEA users soon to gain access to new widget feed options that allow developers to customize content.
Additionally, the rollout of File Explorer’s ability to open a new tab when clicking on a folder location from a desktop or other locations has been paused.
