Blues Edge Golden Knights in Shootout Thriller

The St. Louis Blues recovered from a two-goal deficit to defeat the Vegas Golden Knights 5-4 in a shootout at T-Mobile Arena on Monday. The win marked the Blues’ third victory in four games, despite being down 4-2 late in the third period.

Jake Neighbours and Brayden Schenn scored for St. Louis after Jack Eichel and Pavel Dorofeyev tied the game with their nets empty to force overtime. Coach Jim Montgomery said the team’s confidence is growing as they play “the right way” with good habits, details, and execution.

The Blues took a 1-0 lead in the first period, but the Golden Knights tied it 1-1 on a power-play goal by Tomas Hertl. Nathan Walker gave St. Louis a 2-1 lead before Neighbours extended the lead to 3-1 with a wrist shot in the second period.

Shea Theodore scored twice for Vegas, including four assists, but Adin Hill’s 24 saves were not enough to secure a win. The Golden Knights have lost four games in a row and are looking to turn their season around.

Blues goalie Jordan Binnington earned his 17th career shootout win and passed Brian Elliott for the most in Blues history. The team’s point streak continued with three victories in four games, and Hertl extended his point streak to six games with five goals and five assists.
