Microsoft has continued to work on new features for its soon-to-be-defunct desktop operating system, despite the company’s warning that users should upgrade by October 2025. The deadline marks the end of support for Windows 10, after which Microsoft will no longer issue security patches and fixes.
The upcoming End-of-Support date leaves millions of PC owners at increased risk of viruses and malware. However, beta testers have spotted new features coming to Windows 10, including an enhanced Calendar app that will load holiday-related pictures and weather forecasts into its user interface.
To enable the feature, users must register as a Windows Insider through the company’s free beta scheme. The process involves signing in with a Microsoft Account, navigating to Settings > Update & Security, and selecting the “Windows Insider Program” channel.
Microsoft has urged users to upgrade to a new PC this year, citing the importance of staying secure. Despite pressure from critics, the company shows no signs of relaxing its minimum system requirements for the free upgrade to Windows 11.
With just over 6 months left until the End-of-Support date, users should consider upgrading their operating systems to avoid potential security risks.
