Zelenskiy Demands 200,000 Peacekeepers for Ukraine Security

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has urged European leaders to provide a minimum of 200,000 peacekeeping forces to prevent future Russian attacks on Ukraine. The demand comes as Ukraine seeks a meeting with US President Donald Trump to discuss security guarantees and amid promises by Trump to end the war quickly. Zelenskiy stated that this number is necessary given Russia’s military strength and Ukraine’s smaller armed forces. He also warned against drastic reductions in Ukraine’s military, which he believes would be demanded by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Ukrainian leader emphasized the need for a united European defense policy and called on Europe to take responsibility for its own security.
