JPMorgan recently announced a five-day return-to-office mandate, joining AT&T, Dell, and Amazon in doing so just months prior. Despite this, younger employees seem uncertain about the shift back to traditional office work. For many, it marks their first experience with an extended in-person workweek.
The reasons for Gen Z’s reaction vary. Some believe they are unprepared for the office, while others point to “RTO FOMO,” or return-to-office fervor. A recent survey found 57% of Gen Z preferred an in-person job in 2023, but a separate survey revealed that 80% of Gen Z believed virtual work boosted their productivity.
