Thousands Honor Martin Luther King Jr.’s Legacy at Fresno March

Thousands gathered in downtown Fresno on January 20, 2025, to honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. The annual march featured local leaders, powerful messages of peace, and reflections on the ongoing relevance of King’s vision. Starting from Saint John’s Cathedral, the march made its way past City Hall before concluding at the Fresno Veterans Memorial.

Singers from Impact Nation described Monday’s event as the largest turnout they’ve ever seen, calling it a blessing to see so many people celebrating MLK Jr.’s birthday. Local leaders, including City Councilmember Nick Richardson and Mayor Jerry Dyer, joined the march alongside community members. Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni also participated.

The ongoing relevance of King’s legacy was highlighted by Wendy McCulley, Chief Engagement and External Partnerships Officer for Fresno Unified School District. She stated that many of the problems MLK Jr. faced are still present today, emphasizing the need to continue the fight against injustice. The event marked another success for the city’s annual march, showcasing the community’s commitment to peace, unity, and positive change.
