Magic: The Gathering’s Aetherdrift preview season has officially begun, with a debut video revealing key mechanics and cards. The upcoming set is set to complete the cycle of Verges started in Duskmourn: House of Horror. Players can expect new lands, including common “gain” lands and full-art Driver’s Seat basic lands, as well as colorless Raceways for each plane featured in the Ghirapur Grand Prix.
The set will also introduce new racing-related abilities, such as “Start Your Engines!” which increases speed by 1 on the first turn. Additionally, exhaust abilities are back, offering unique bonuses that can be triggered once. Aetherdrift’s Commander Decks feature Esper and Temur decks with zombies and energy mechanics, respectively.
Box Toppers return in Aetherdrift, including a basic land and a foil card featuring the new foiling treatment. Special Guests include Chrome Mox, and additional previews have been shared, including Hazoret, Gearhulks, and other nostalgic cards.
Aetherdrift is set to release on February 14. Players can preorder singles and sealed products, and view the official preview gallery here.
