Singer Chris Brown is suing Warner Bros. Discovery over a documentary that he claims features false sexual assault allegations against him. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges that the producers of “A History of Violence” knowingly included discredited claims from an unreliable accuser.
The doc, released last month, explores accusations of domestic violence and sex assault against Brown. At its center is Jane Doe, who sued Brown for sexual assault and battery in 2022. The lawsuit was later dismissed without prejudice, meaning it can be refiled.
Brown accuses the accuser of fabricating her claims, citing a history of violence and erratic behavior that should have raised red flags with responsible journalists. He also takes issue with statements portraying him as having a “predisposition for punching women in the face.”
The singer claims he notified the documentary’s producers about false claims but they didn’t make necessary revisions. Brown says the filmmakers prioritized profit over facts, ignoring publicly available court records and credible evidence.
Brown cites his own 2017 self-produced documentary, Chris Brown: Welcome To My Life, which mentions his 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna. The singer describes how he went from being a beloved artist to becoming a “public enemy number one” after the incident.
