iPhone Owners Disappointed with Apple’s Latest AI Feature

A recent survey conducted by online marketplace SellCell has revealed that Apple customers are largely unimpressed with the company’s latest AI feature, Apple Intelligence. The feature, which includes generative AI for Siri and an image generator, was expected to bring new possibilities for users, but only 41.6% of iPhone owners with the latest hardware said they would even try it.

Among those who did, a staggering 73% reported that the tools were either “not very valuable” or added “little to no value” to their smartphone experience. Only 11.1% considered them valuable at all. The main complaint among Apple users is that these features do not innovate in the AI scene and offer nothing new.

The environmental impact of investing in AI without providing significant technical value to consumers has also raised concerns. Electronic waste and water consumption are major issues associated with AI development, making this trend even more wasteful. As a result, efforts to combat “greenwashing” are necessary to uncover the truth behind such campaigns.

Apple is facing intense backlash after sending out a push notification in December 2024 that falsely summarized a BBC News report about a suspect on trial for murder. This incident has sparked calls to remove Apple’s AI features, highlighting the need to understand and combat greenwashing efforts.

The situation highlights the importance of critical thinking when it comes to emerging technologies like AI. As consumers, it is essential to be aware of the environmental impact and potential for waste associated with these innovations.
