EA Abolishes Origin, Switches to 64-Bit App

Electronic Arts, a prominent video game publisher, is discontinuing its popular digital distribution platform, EA Origin, effective April 17, 2025. The company will transition users to the EA app, which has been available since 2020.

To maintain access to purchased games and save data, users must download and install the new EA app, using their existing Origin account credentials. The app will automatically recognize users and display their game library.

However, some titles with saved cloud data may require manual transfer or be unavailable on older systems that cannot run the 64-bit app. Users who don’t meet this requirement may need to upgrade their PC hardware to continue playing EA games.

On the other hand, many EA titles are now available on Steam, including Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Users can link their Origin account to their Steam library and launch previously purchased games via Steam. This allows users to access EA games through multiple platforms, offering flexibility for PC gamers.
