Francisco San Martin, a Spanish-born actor best known for his role as Dario Hernandez on Days of Our Lives, has died by suicide at the age of 39. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the cause of death was “ligature hanging,” according to their report.
San Martin, who was born in Mallorca and raised in Montana, had a successful acting career in various soap operas and films, including Behind the Candelabra and Jane the Virgin. He also starred on The Bold and the Beautiful as Mateo for seven episodes.
Colleagues and friends paid tribute to San Martin, with his co-star Camila Banus sharing a heartfelt message on her Instagram Stories. Journalist Michael Fairman described himself as “very, very sad” after seeing San Martin at his gym every day.
