A major winter storm that brought snow to the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, and Louisiana has caused disruptions in sporting events across the region. At least eight states have canceled school classes due to the weather, with cities like New Orleans setting snowfall records.
The Southeastern Conference (SEC) has made several changes to its basketball schedule. The No. 5 LSU women’s team vs. No. 2 South Carolina game was rescheduled for Friday after originally being set for Thursday in Columbia, S.C. LSU will still play their home game against Texas A&M on Sunday as scheduled.
Meanwhile, an NBA contest between the Bucks and Pelicans has been postponed due to hazardous road conditions in New Orleans. The league announced that a new date will be determined at a later time. The game was originally set for Wednesday but had to be rescheduled after the team’s practice and shootaround were canceled.
The Sun Belt Conference has also made changes to its men’s basketball schedule, citing hazardous travel conditions. Two games scheduled for Wednesday have been moved to Thursday, while two more games scheduled for Thursday have been shifted to Monday.
