North Charleston Denies Rumors of Police Chief Narrowed Down to Two

North Charleston is setting the record straight about rumors circulating that the city has narrowed its search for a new police chief down to two finalists. According to Tony Tassarotti, the city spokesperson, this information is false and the selection process is still ongoing.

In November, Tassarotti released a statement addressing a misleading screenshot being circulated online. He stated that Mayor Burgess and city officials are committed to a thorough and transparent search for the next police chief, which began in April after former Police Chief Greg Gomes announced his retirement.

Six finalists have been selected for the position, including two deputy police chiefs within the department. The selection process will ultimately be decided by Mayor Burgess.
