Astronomers Pinpoint Fast Radio Burst Outside Dead Galaxy**

**
A team of astronomers has identified the origin of a fast radio burst (FRB) 2.5 billion light-years from Earth, which is billions of years away from any stars or galaxies with star formation activity. This discovery challenges existing theories about how these bursts are generated, as it suggests they may originate in dead galaxies rather than active ones. The FRB, named FRB 20240209A, was detected by the CHIME radio telescope and its location has been pinpointed to an accuracy never before achieved. This finding raises questions about how such energetic events can occur in regions where star formation has ceased. Additional telescopes are being developed to further refine these findings, potentially leading to new insights into the nature of FRBs and their sources.
