BMW Files Challenge Over EU Tariffs on Chinese Electric Vehicles

BMW has joined other Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers in challenging EU tariffs on EVs at the European Union Court of Justice (CJEU). The company filed its complaint in the General Court, the lower chamber of CJEU, just before the deadline. BMW’s electric vehicles, including the Mini Cooper and Mini Aceman, are made in China. The EU had imposed a 20.7% tariff on these vehicles after an anti-subsidy investigation.

Other Chinese EV companies such as BYD, Geely, SAIC, and the Auto Sector Body CCCME have also challenged the tariffs. The court process typically takes about 18 months and can be appealed. No further details of the current cases were provided by officials.
