Microsoft Launches Smaller Premium Surface Devices to Outcompete Apple and Improve Battery Life

Microsoft is set to release smaller versions of its Surface Pro 2-in-1 and Surface Laptop, designed as premium yet more portable options. These new models will feature 11-inch or 12-inch screens and enhanced portability compared to Apple’s iPad Pro, with features like improved refresh rates and pen support. The Surface Laptop is expected to offer a higher resolution touchscreen, a backlit keyboard, and an all-metal design. Both products will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Plus processors, distinguishing them from the Snapdragon X Elite chips used in current models. These smaller iterations will be priced between $800 and $900 and will complement existing Surface lineup while targeting budget-conscious consumers. Meanwhile, Microsoft is also developing Lunar Lake variants of its Surface devices for business users.
