Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag Sue LA City Over Palisades Fire Damage

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, known from “The Hills,” have sued Los Angeles and its water department following the Palisades fire, which destroyed their homes. The suit alleges the city’s water system failed due to not being designed for wildfires, citing emptying and shutting down the Santa Ynez Reservoir in the weeks before the fire.

Public officials and leaders are paying attention to the reservoir’s status after the fire, with an investigation into why water pressure dropped during the incident. Earlier, a similar issue occurred from the Eaton fire, which involved transmission towers from Southern California Edison.

Pratt and Montag, who married in 2008, shared their struggles post-evacuation in January 2023, including using Heidi’s music to generate income and discussing a reality TV show about rebuilding. They acknowledge losing everything they worked for and now have no savings.

This case is part of a trend with inverse condemnation claims from wildfires in LA, projected as the costliest in U.S. history. Similar lawsuits are being filed by victims of both the Palisades and Eaton fires, which also involved transmission towers.

The lawsuit represents their latest attempt to recover damages, following significant financial losses and emotional toll from the fires.
