The Houston Astros have inked a deal to sendReliver Ryan Presslyto theChicago Cubs. The two teams exchanged players, with Pressly bringing his skills to the Cubs in exchange for an unknown amount and another player,RHP Juan Bello.
A Dallas native, Pressly joined the Astros in 2018 after being acquired by the Minnesota Twins mid-season. He has been a reliable pitcher ever since, earning two All-Star selections (in 2019 and 2021) during his seven-year tenure with the team. During that time, he posted a 2.81 ERA, 111 saves (second in franchise history), and over 400 strikeouts.
Pressly’s impact extended beyond the regular season; he delivered during the 2022 World Series, finishing the final out with Kyle Tucker making the catch. Postseason stats include a 2.78 ERA across 47 games and a 0.00 ERA in 10 appearances.
The Astros are set to receive additional pitching support from the Cubs as Juan Bello steps into Pressly’s shoes.
