Ubisoft has announced the closure of its UK studio, Leamington, which was previously known as FreeStyleGames, along with significant layoffs and downsizing at other offices in DĂĽsseldorf, Stockholm, and Newcastle-upon-Tyne. This results in 185 employees being terminated across these locations. The studio, which contributed to games like *Star Wars Outlaws*, *Skull and Bones*, *Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora*, *Tom Clancy’s The Division 2*, and *Far Cry 5*, is now part of Ubisoft’s ongoing restructuring efforts aimed at prioritizing projects and reducing costs.
Meanwhile, Ubisoft told Eurogamer that it is considering a potential split with the possibility of creating a new venture involving part of its assets, which could lead to further layoffs. If *Assassin’s Creed Shadows* faces delays, this may result in additional headlines about employee separations. Stay tuned for updates as the situation unfolds.
