Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson has chosen his three coordinators ahead of his new role. The team announced that offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, and special teams coordinator Richard Hightower will work under Johnson’s guidance.
Doyle brings a deep understanding of tight ends from his time with the Denver Broncos since 2023 and spent four seasons as an assistant for the New Orleans Saints. Allen, who has never coached alongside Johnson, was immediately preferred for the defensive coordinator position after Johnson’s hiring. He spent nearly a decade in the NFL before being let go midway through the 2014 season.
Hightower, entering his fourth season with the Bears, is a veteran special teams coach who previously worked with notable figures like Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn.
The Bears recently confirmed that several coaches from their 2024 staff will not retain their roles, including interim head coach Thomas Brown, quarterbacks coach Kerry Joseph, wide receivers coach Chris Beatty, offensive line coach Chris Morgan, running backs coach Chad Morton, defensive coordinator Eric Washington, and cornerbacks coach Jon Hoke.
