The last commercial supersonic flight was BA002 in 2003. Blake Scholl of Boom Supersonic hopes the next will not come for another two decades. Their Concorde replacement, Overture, aims to carry 64-80 passengers but has yet to be built. A one-third-scale demonstrator, XB-1, broke the sound barrier in January 2023, testing airframe technology. Boom Supersonic is working on high-speed transport that could revolutionize aviation within the next two decades.
