The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced a recall of frozen chicken nuggets sold at Wegmans stores on the East Coast due to potential bone fragment contamination. The FSIS issued a public health alert noting that the products, which were no longer available but may still be in consumers’ freezers, caused multiple consumer complaints without confirmed injuries.
Consumers with affected nuggets can identify them by checking the packaging for specific details: produced on Aug. 26, 2024, sold in 46-ounce plastic packages with “Wegmans Family Pack Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Breast with Rib Meat” and UPC: 0-77890-25210-9. The best-if-used-by date is “08 26 25” on the back near the barcode.
Consumers should avoid consuming or disposing these nuggets immediately. For questions, contact Wegmans at 1-855-934-3663 between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, or until 5:00 p.m. on weekends.
