Dani Busboom Kelly Leaves Louisville To Coach At Nebraska

Dani Busboom Kelly, who guided Louisville Volleyball to major achievements including two national runner-up finishes, three semifinal appearances, and four ACC championships, has accepted the head coaching role at her alma mater, Nebraska. Announced on March 23, 2023, Kelly expressed gratitude for her time at Louisville, emphasizing her pride in the program’s accomplishments under coach Josh Heird and assistant Amy Calabrese.

In a heartfelt statement, Busboom Kelly praised the athletic department, city, and people of Louisville, thanking players, staff, and Card Nation for their support over the past eight seasons. She highlighted the incredible achievements, including ACC Championships and Final Fours, which were made possible by the trust placed in her leadership during those years.

Dan Meske, the current associate head coach at Louisville, will now take over as the program’s head coach. Meske has been a key figure in Louisville’s rise to prominence, earning several opportunities to leave for other coaching roles but choosing to stay and lead the team forward.

Fans have reacted with mixed emotions, expressing congratulations on her new role while acknowledging the disappointment of her leaving Louisville. “It really sucks,” one fan quipped sarcastically, before celebrating her success at Nebraska.

“Dan Meske is a proven leader, teacher, and program builder who will keep us on a national championship trajectory if approved by ULAA,” coach Josh Heird said.
