Ad space during this year’s Super Bowl is selling out fast, with Fox Sports’ executive vice president Mark Evans saying demand was robust, even prompting a waitlist for marketers ready to take the available spots. This year’s prices have reached record levels, with some ad spots reportedly costing up to $8 million for just 30 seconds of airtime.
Fox declined to comment on specific pricing, but CEO Lachlan Murdoch stated in November that ad space had sold out at “record pricing.” Last year, a 30-second spot went for around $7 million.
Advertisers are eager to reach the massive Super Bowl audience of over 120 million viewers. The typical advertisers include beverage brands like Anheuser-Busch and PepsiCo, as well as tech companies and telcos. This year, there’s an increased focus on AI in commercials, with slightly more pharmaceutical companies advertising.
Notable changes this year include a decline in movie promos and streamers, while automakers are largely absent after a tough year for the sector. Some advertisers faced production delays due to recent California wildfires, but Fox made accommodations wherever possible.
Ads have already begun rolling out, featuring celebrities like Willem Dafoe and Catherine O’Hara in Michelob Ultra commercials, as well as Budweiser’s heartwarming ad showcasing a Clydesdale foal helping make beer deliveries.
