DrDisrespect Studio Closes Four Months After Layoffs

Streamers’ studio behind ‘Deaddrop’ shuts down amid controversy and Google lifts YouTube ban on Dr Disrespect.

Midnight Society, the studio co-founded by popular streamer Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm, has closed its doors four months after making significant layoffs. The news comes as Google announced it is lifting Beahm’s YouTube monetization ban, which was put in place following his admission of “inappropriate” behavior with a minor last year.

Midnight Society, founded by Beahm and former Call of Duty community manager Robert Bowling in 2021, faced challenges after Beahm admitted to exchanging messages with an individual minor in 2017 that were deemed inappropriate. Despite initial distancing from Beahm, the studio struggled, announcing significant layoffs in September and blaming “multiple unexpected challenges” for the move.

In a statement, Midnight Society expressed gratitude to its community members and apologized for not reaching their ultimate goal. The studio is now actively seeking new game studios interested in hiring its talented team members. Google’s reversal of Beahm’s suspension comes after an appeal, with the platform citing careful review of the channel’s recent activity.

Dr Disrespect responded to the news by saying it was a “fucking weird world” as he regained monetization on his YouTube channel.
