Big Brands Stand Firm on Diversity and Inclusion Amid Anti-DEI Push

US President Donald Trump’s executive order eliminating federal DEI programs and directing government agencies to target “illegal private sector DEI preferences” has sparked a backlash against diversity initiatives. However, several major companies have reaffirmed their commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Costco, JPMorgan Chase, Apple, Pinterest, Microsoft, e.l.f. Beauty, Goldman Sachs, Cisco, Delta, and Salesforce have all publicly defended their DEI policies despite the growing tide of anti-DEI sentiment.

The tech giant Apple’s board of directors rejected a proposal to reconsider its DEI initiatives, stating that “how we conduct ourselves is as critical to Apple’s success as making the best products in the world.”

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon also defended diversity and inclusion, emphasizing its importance for business. Pinterest’s chief legal officer Wanji Walcott highlighted the significance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, reaffirming his company’s commitment to creating inclusive spaces.

Microsoft’s Lindsay-Rae McIntyre emphasized transparency and accountability in her organization’s DEI work. e.l.f. Beauty, an Oakland-based beauty company, has also made strides in promoting diversity and inclusion through their creative campaigns.

While the anti-DEI push continues to gain momentum, these companies remain steadfast in their commitment to diversity and inclusion, citing its importance for business success and social responsibility.
