Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal are reuniting for an updated rendition of their famous deli scene from When Harry Met Sally, thanks to Hellmann’s. The condiment brand has released its 2025 Super Bowl commercial, featuring the iconic duo recreating the classic moment with more mayo involved.
The video takes place at Katz’s Delicatessen, where Ryan and Crystal sit down for sandwiches. Ryan adds mayonnaise (Hellmann’s brand) to her sandwich, prompting a reaction similar to before, except this time it’s “real.” The commercial balances updated details with nostalgic throwbacks, including Ryan’s new hairdo and Crystal wearing his famous sweater.
Katz’s Delicatessen has been a Manhattan food scene staple since 1888, known for traditional Jewish foods like matzo ball soup and smoked meats. While mustard is the traditional choice for pastrami sandwiches, mayo is also acceptable – even encouraged by Ryan in the commercial.
Hellmann’s released a teaser video just days ago, confirming Ryan’s sandwich order: turkey on rye with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo on the side. Crystal shares his own sandwich opinion in an interview with Food & Wine, suggesting mayonnaise with a BLT on sourdough toast is also lovely.
The Super Bowl commercial will air in two versions – 30-second and 60-second cuts. Fans will see Ryan and Crystal reenact their scene, along with a surprise appearance from Sydney Sweeney delivering the iconic line.
