Reese Witherspoon Revives Skater Skirt Trend with Black Two-Piece Set

Reese Witherspoon has brought back a staple of the 2010s skirt trend in her latest red-carpet appearance. At a New York screening of her film You’re Cordially Invited, the actress wore a black two-piece set featuring a round-neck jacket with gold hardware and a matching skater miniskirt with ruffled tiers. The look was reminiscent of the iconic A-line silhouette popularized during the era of New Girl and Tumblr.

The skater skirt trend, once ubiquitous among women in the early 2010s, has largely fallen out of favor since then. However, Witherspoon’s subtle take on the trend marked a return to this fashion staple. The actress paired her outfit with black heels and kept her shoulder-length blonde hair down and parted slightly.

This isn’t the first time Witherspoon has revisited classic trends in her fashion choices. Just a couple of months ago, she wore an asymmetrical sparkle dress and a one-shoulder LBD earlier in the week. The actress stars alongside Will Ferrell in Prime’s You’re Cordially Invited, which takes place at a venue where two weddings have accidentally double-booked.

In speaking on the UK premiere red carpet, Witherspoon described the film as “a classic 1930s movie.” She praised one of her scenes, saying it was “one of the best I’ve ever done in my whole life.” You’re Cordially Invited will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting January 30.
