McIlroy Hits Second Career Ace at Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Rory McIlroy achieved his second career hole-in-one during the first round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Thursday. The Northern Irish golfer scored a 6-under opening-round 66 after acing the 15th hole at Spyglass Hill Golf Course.

McIlroy, playing in his first PGA Tour event this season, described the feeling as “a good swing, a good wedge shot and it was obviously a nice little moment.” He also mentioned that he struggled with whether to let the ball fly or hold back, given the elevated tee position.

The round saw two players – McIlroy and Shane Lowry – both achieve holes-in-one. The pair are now just two shots behind the clubhouse leader, Russell Henley, who shot a 7-under score.

Other notable golfers include Justin Rose, Viktor Hovland, and Rasmus Hojgaard, all of whom tied for sixth place at 7-under. Scottie Scheffler, the World No.1, carded an opening round of five under to leave him three shots off the pace.
