The 19th-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders pulled off a monumental upset win over the No. 6 Houston Cougars in overtime on Saturday, defeating them 82-81. The victory marked a six-game winning streak for Texas Tech and snapped Houston’s 33-game home winning streak as well as their 18-game Big 12 Conference winning streak. The Red Raiders played without leading scorer JT Toppin and head coach Grant McCasland in the second half due to injury.
The game was tied at 72-72 with 26 seconds left before Darrion Williams hit a three-pointer, tying it again. However, Chance McMillian would later make two free throws, forcing a turnover and securing the win for Texas Tech. The Red Raiders’ six-game winning streak is now on the line as they prepare to face their next opponent.
The victory caps off an impressive week of games for the Red Raiders, who are currently ranked 17th in the nation.
