According to economists at the Wells Fargo Agri-Food Institute, a Super Bowl party menu for 10 people can cost around $139 this year, just 0.1% more than last year. To navigate price fluctuations, consumers should focus on affordable options like celery and broccoli, which have seen significant price decreases. Other budget-friendly snacks include potato chips, frozen shrimp, and cauliflower.
On the other hand, salsa and nacho cheese prices remain steady, while guacamole dip has only increased by 1.5% despite a surge in avocado prices. Making guacamole from scratch can still save money, highlighting the trend of price variability within categories.
The review also found that beer and wine have seen only 2% increases, but chicken wings come at a premium this year, with an increase of over 7%. However, frozen shrimp has decreased by 4%, making it a more affordable option for reaching protein goals.
