Apple Watch Owners Eligible for $20M Payout Over Battery Swelling Issues

Apple Watch owners who purchased certain models between 2015 and 2024 may be eligible for a payout of up to $50 due to battery swelling issues. The company has agreed to a $20 million settlement after a class-action lawsuit alleged that the batteries in some models could expand within their compartments, causing malfunctions.

To qualify for compensation, users must have owned an affected Apple Watch model, reported issues related to battery swelling, and submitted a claim by April 10, 2025. Compensation amounts vary depending on the number of claims submitted, ranging from $20 to $50 per user.

Eligible users will receive notifications via email or postcard informing them of their eligibility for a class payment. To file a claim, users must visit the settlement website and scan the QR code with an app or built-in camera. Payment options include physical check, electronic check, ACH transfer, or virtual prepaid Visa or MasterCard.

Note: By accepting the settlement payment, Apple customers waive their rights to pursue further legal action against Apple regarding the battery issue.
