No. 11 Kansas suffered its largest lead blowout in school history, falling 81-70 to Baylor on Saturday. The Jayhawks led by as many as 21 points in the first half and held a 19-point advantage at halftime, but trailed by just four points with five minutes left before exploding for a 17-0 run.
Baylor outscored Kansas 60-0 over the final 20 minutes of play, forcing a flurry of fouls from Hunter Dickinson. The Bears’ Robert Wright III scored 24 points, while Norchad Omier added 18 points and 16 rebounds. Kansas is now three games behind Houston for first place in the conference.
The loss marked Kansas’ second consecutive defeat, following a 92-86 loss to Houston last week. The Jayhawks’ season has seen some inconsistency, with a 6-4 record in the Big 12 halfway through the conference season. They face a challenging matchup against No. 3 Iowa State on Monday.
