A video game store in Uruguay has allegedly leaked the release date of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) on its website before Rockstar Games had confirmed it.
XUruguay, a local “geek center” in Montevideo, posted the release date as September 17 for the PlayStation 5 exclusive. This aligns with Take-Two’s previously announced plans to ship the game in Fall 2025.
However, XUruguay has since issued a statement claiming it was all just a joke that escalated. The store team admitted they were not aware of any official information about the game’s release date and had mistakenly put up the incorrect date.
The mistake is believed to have occurred when one of the store staff members searched for information on Google and misread the release date as September 17, instead of the actual Tuesday or Friday release window. The store team apologized for any confusion caused and updated its website to remove the incorrect date.
Rockstar Games has not commented on the matter yet.
