Kamala Harris Slams Trump’s “Enemy from Within” Remark as Threat to Democracy

Kamala Harris attacked former President Donald Trump’s comments suggesting the US military could be used to deal with “the enemy from within” as a threat to American democracy. The remarks, made during a Fox News interview, have raised concerns among Democrats about what a potential second Trump term could look like.

Harris, at her rally in northwestern Pennsylvania, called Trump a serious threat to the country’s democratic institutions and values. She argued that his comments demonstrate an “unstable and unhinged” behavior, which is part of her effort to win over undecided voters and traditionally Republican ones.

Trump made the comment while discussing potential disruptions on Election Day. He claimed that there are “bad people” within the US who pose a threat to national security, suggesting that the military or National Guard could be used to deal with them.

Harris’ campaign has highlighted Trump’s comments as an example of his increasingly divisive rhetoric. The senator is now targeting Pennsylvania, a state she has visited 10 times this campaign season. Harris is focusing on winning over undecided voters and even some traditionally Republican ones, who are becoming increasingly concerned about the direction of the country under Trump.

Trump has been on a series of visits to Pennsylvania, including a town hall in suburban Philadelphia, where he spoke about regulations making it difficult to build homes. He also claimed that government data is “fake” and manipulated to help incumbent Democrats.

Harris’ campaign sees Erie as a key battleground area, with a moderate voting record. She has emphasized the importance of early voting, urging supporters to fill out and return their ballots immediately. The visit to LegendErie Records and Coffee House, a Black-owned small business, was part of her efforts to step up outreach to Black men, a crucial voting bloc.

The presidential election in Pennsylvania is expected to be closely contested, with both sides believing the outcome could be closer than in previous elections. Harris’ campaign is intensifying its efforts to win over undecided voters and traditionally Republican ones, while Trump remains focused on his economic agenda and claims of a “fake” democracy.
