A newly launched Nvidia GPU, the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090, has sold out of stock in Europe on its launch day due to an inexcusable lack of supply. The retailer Proshop was left with no choice but to enable a scalper bot to purchase the entire stock before it was available to customers. The bot, dubbed Nvidia KSB Test v1.1, exploited loopholes in the system and was able to buy out the cards using multiple addresses. Despite restrictions, the users who used the bot are still reaping the benefits, raising questions about Proshop’s handling of the situation.
Proshop has responded by directing PCGH to contact Nvidia directly regarding the incident. However, it is unclear whether the retailer will take any further action against those involved in the scalping operation. The list of usernames and invoices used by the scalper bot has been obtained by PCGH, but Proshop has yet to express interest in sharing this information.
