The European Union has warned that it will respond “firmly” if US President Donald Trump imposes tariffs on its goods. The EU said it was prepared to take action in response to any trade sanctions, but did not specify what measures it would take. This comes after Mr Trump announced plans to impose tariffs on €100bn worth of EU goods, which he claims are being subsidized by the EU. The EU has rejected these claims and says that its goods are subject to strict rules and regulations.
