Plane Tug Collision Critically Injures Driver at Chicago Airport

A critical collision between a plane tug and an Air Wisconsin jet occurred on Saturday evening at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, leaving one driver severely injured. The incident took place around 7:35 p.m. local time when the plane, carrying up to 50 passengers, struck the vehicle while attempting to cross a taxiway.

The driver of the vehicle, a 64-year-old man operating for United Airlines, suffered head and lower-body injuries. He was pinned under the vehicle and had to be freed by responders before being taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition.

Air Wisconsin said that passengers safely exited the plane after landing, while American Airlines stated that operations at O’Hare remained unaffected despite the incident. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Chicago Police Department are investigating the cause of the collision.

This incident comes a day after another tragic accident involving a medical plane in Philadelphia, killing seven people on board and one person on the ground. In recent days, two more aviation incidents have occurred, with an American Eagle plane and U.S. Army helicopter colliding mid-air near Washington D.C., resulting in 67 fatalities.
