Santorini Volcano Blast Unlikely, Expert Says

Greece’s Santorini Island Experiencing Seismic Activity

Mild seismic activity has reactivated the volcano on Greece’s island of Santorini for the second time in recent memory. The 2011 eruption and a catastrophic blast around 1600 BC have left locals on edge. However, Stavros Meletlidis, an expert from Spain’s Instituto Geografico Nacional, believes there is little cause for concern. In his experience advising authorities on responding to volcano eruptions in the Canary Islands in 2021, he suggests that the situation remains under control.
