EA has pulled back the curtain on Battlefield 6, revealing four development studios and a closed pre-alpha test for the game. The teaser video introduces DICE as the lead developer of multiplayer and underlying game systems, while Criterion is expanding its support role to focus on single-player component. Motive, behind the Dead Space remake, is aiding in single-player campaign development, and Ripple Effect, a longtime Battlefield support studio, is working on “an experience that will open up the game to new players.”
The game’s pre-alpha test, dubbed Battlefield Labs, has already begun with community sign-ups live, albeit limited and under NDA. The devs plan to test core combat, destruction, balance, and feedback for various elements before refining maps, modes, and squad play.
EA is prioritizing community input to shape the next entry in the FPS franchise, particularly after the lukewarm response to Battlefield 2142. With a modern setting confirmed and “campaign is back” teased, fans can look forward to a more immersive experience in the classic series.
