Florida’s Space Coast is gearing up for another busy month of rocket launches in February. With 10 orbital rocket launches already scheduled for January, the region is poised to surpass last year’s annual record of 93 orbital rocket liftoffs. Here are the latest missions set to launch from Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center:
First up is SpaceX’s WorldView Legion 5 and 6 mission on Tuesday, February 4. A Falcon 9 rocket will launch Maxar Space Systems’ fifth and sixth WorldView Legion imagery satellites into orbit. Sonic booms are expected as the rockets pass over land.
Next, SpaceX Starlink will take to the skies on Friday, February 7, launching a payload of internet satellites into low-Earth orbit. The launch is scheduled for 1:50 p.m. to 6:21 p.m.
In late March, NASA’s SpaceX Crew-10 mission will launch, carrying astronauts to a long-duration stay aboard the International Space Station on a Falcon 9 rocket.
Other notable launches include the NASA-SpaceX Intuitive Machines lander mission on Wednesday, February 26, which will carry NASA science-technology demonstrations and other commercial payloads to Mons Mouton, a lunar plateau near the moon’s South Pole region. The launch window for this mission has not yet been announced.
The United Launch Alliance USSF-106 mission is also set for late March, but its exact launch date and time have not been confirmed. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will propel the Vulcan rocket into geosynchronous orbit more than 22,000 miles above Earth.
Other missions include a SpaceX-Axiom Space Ax-4 launch in spring, carrying private astronauts to the International Space Station, and Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket launching NASA’s ESCAPADE mission to Mars in spring.
Finally, Sierra Space will launch its uncrewed Dream Chaser space plane atop a ULA Vulcan rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in May.
