Samsung’s latest flagship series, the Galaxy S24, was a commercial success for the company, but it narrowly missed out on the top spot in smartphone sales globally in 2024. According to Canalys, the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra were Samsung’s best-selling flagship phones since the 2019 Galaxy S10 series.
The numbers show that Samsung sold over 37 million Galaxy S24 devices worldwide, with the Ultra model accounting for a significant portion of sales. The global smartphone market as a whole grew by 7% in 2024, driven by strong sales from Apple’s iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models.
However, Apple emerged as the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer, edging out Samsung with its own shipments of 225.9 million units. The top 10 best-selling smartphones globally were dominated by Apple, with six slots taken up by iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models, and one slot occupied by the Galaxy A15.
Samsung managed to secure three spots on the list, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra in ninth place. Despite this, the company’s flagship devices failed to crack the top 10 for the first time since 2019.
