A recall of 6,344 bags of Lay’s potato chips has been upgraded to a Class I level by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), warning that consuming the product could cause serious health consequences or death for those with a milk allergy. The affected products were sold in Oregon and Washington states as early as November 3, 2024.
The FDA has issued a recall of specific 13-ounce bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips due to potential undeclared milk content. Milk is one of eight major food allergens, and the agency has not received any reports of allergic reactions related to this product. The recalled products were removed from stores after the initial recall was issued last month.
Consumers in Oregon and Washington who purchased these chips are advised to check for the “guaranteed fresh” date of February 11, 2025, and manufacturing code 6462307xx or 6463307xx on the bag. No other Lay’s products have been recalled, and it is unclear why the FDA upgraded this recall to its highest level.
