BYU’s Big 12 Schedule for 2025 Presents Uncertainty and Challenges

BYU’s second season in the Big 12 has taught us one thing: predicting the league race is a challenging task. As the Cougars prepare to face nine conference opponents, they’ll need to navigate a tough slate that includes several revenge games against former foes.

The season kicks off on September 27 against Colorado, where BYU will look to exact revenge from last year’s 37-7 loss in Morgantown. The next week, the Cougars head to West Virginia for another winnable road game, but will need to be focused after a bye week.

October brings two key games: a rivalry matchup against Utah on October 18, where former Cougar quarterback Jason Beck takes over as offensive coordinator, and a trip to Iowa State on October 25, which could be an emotionally draining game for both teams.

BYU’s toughest stretch comes later in the season, with games at Texas Tech on November 8, TCU on November 15, and home against Cincinnati on November 22. The Cougars will also host UCF on November 29 in a matchup that promises to be a chilly one.

The Mountain West rivalry against Colorado and Utah will provide plenty of excitement throughout the season, but BYU’s opponents have already shown they can hang with the Cougars. Five of their nine conference opponents played in bowl games last year, including three away games at Colorado, West Virginia, Iowa State, Texas Tech, and TCU.

Overall, BYU’s Big 12 schedule for 2025 presents uncertainty and challenges that will test Jay Hill’s defense and his team’s ability to bounce back from setbacks. Can the Cougars overcome their toughest stretch of the season and emerge with a strong conference record? Only time will tell.
