Google has updated its Google TV app, adding a share button that makes it easy to send movies and TV shows to others. The new feature allows users to tap a share icon in the top right corner when viewing movie or TV episode information. However, there’s a catch: recipients can’t open shared links without having the Google TV app installed.
The update is mostly useful for those who actively use Google TV, as it enables them to share content with fellow viewers who also have the app. When using the feature, users will get a text snippet describing the content and a URL that they can click on from their device or computer.
While the implementation may be slightly annoying, the share button could still prove helpful for sharing content with people who already use Google TV. The update is now available in the Google TV app on both Android and iOS devices.
